The deceptively simple app works in real-time to achieve quick detection and removal of a large number of Mac-and mobile-related threats. The antivirus compares digital signatures of known software threats with the suspicious code it detects on a drive. Lab tests conducted by an independent AV-Comparatives organization have established that AVG AntiVirus provides protection that is on par with commercial counterparts of the app. As for the system impact, the antivirus produces a noticeable performance dip. For this reason, it is not recommended to run demanding apps when the antivirus conducts a scan. However, the scan time itself does not markedly differ from that of other products on the market.
